The Rome Tennis Center is a 60-court tennis facility owned and operated by the City of Rome, Georgia. Land for the 30-acre public park was donated to the City of Rome by Berry College. The project is a successful collaboration between the City of Rome and Berry College. The facility also includes a 5,400 square-foot Clubhouse and a second restroom and shelter building. Special courts are designed for NCAA completion, youth tennis, and a central stadium court for exhibition play. All areas of the project are handicap accessible, and the courts are designed to accommodate wheelchair tournaments. The project was funded with Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax dollars (SPLOST), with a total project budget of $11.9 million. The project design and construction phases covered 27 months. Collins Project Management (CPM) managed the design and construction process. Primary tasks included coordination for the selection of the design team, the construction firm, and numerous other consultants and vendors. CPM coordinated with the City’s Contracts and Finance Departments to manage project expenditures, and oversaw the construction process.

“I have worked with more than a dozen construction project managers over my career but never anyone as caring and conscientious as Tom. He is extremely focused and dedicated to getting everything we expect. When our design team changed after the Rome Tennis Center project began, Tom managed it seamlessly and still stayed on schedule and under budget. When it comes to eliminating risk, you can’t afford not to hire Collins Project Management.”
Sammy Rich, City Manager
