Collins Project Management was engaged in 2009 to support Northside’s Facilities Planning and Construction professionals with plans to relocate the existing 84 bed hospital in Canton, Georgia. CPM developed initial project budgets, facilitated the selection of the design and construction teams, and prepared the master development schedule. We worked with the project team to develop a comprehensive preconstruction work plan, oversaw the design and preconstruction process, and managed the project budget.
A $13M grading and utility package for the new site was completed in 2013. Construction of the 350,000 sf replacement facility is currently slated to start in November of 2014, and the new hospital will open for patients in the Fall of 2016. The hospital includes a full range of Women’s & Children’s, Emergency, Diagnostic, Surgical, and Cancer Treatment services.
Northside Hospital purchased the former Baptist Hospital in Cumming, Georgia and immediately needed to expand it. The project consisted of a 50,000 sq. ft. two-level vertical addition to accommodate 48 new patient rooms and renovation of the hospital’s main laboratory.
Construction of the vertical expansion was directly above existing patient rooms, so safety and patient privacy issues were paramount in planning efforts. Work in existing patient areas was carefully planned and scheduled in small phases, and a proactive communication program was implemented to minimize disruption and stress to patients and staff.
The project was designed and constructed for $500,000 less than the approved budget and was opened as scheduled in July of 2003.
